Why is copper braided wire tinned? Is its current carrying capacity high or low?
Views:  Addtime:2021-06-21
Copper braided wire, copper bar and copper cable have the same effect. They can be used as copper wires for connection of various equipment, especially in some high voltage transmission equipment. So who knows which of the three products has stronger current carrying capacity? And why do they have to be tinned?
The reason why we want to tinplate copper braided wire, copper bar, copper cable, etc. is mainly to prevent copper oxidation. Although the conductivity of burning copper is good, it is easy to oxidize, which will affect the conductivity. Therefore, silver plating or tinning is generally used to prevent copper oxidation, but silver is more expensive, so tinning gradually replaces silver plating as a trend.

The current carrying capacity of copper braided wire, copper bar and copper cable is related to many factors, such as short distance and small load. The conductor section is selected according to the heating conditions, and the current is controlled by the heating conditions of the conductor. The smaller the cross-sectional area is, the better the heat dissipation is, and the greater the current passing through the unit area is.

On the basis of safe current carrying capacity for long-distance and medium load, it is necessary to select copper braided wire, copper bar and copper cable conductor section according to voltage loss conditions. It is not enough for long-distance and medium load not to generate heat, but also to consider voltage loss, so as to ensure that the voltage at the load point is within the qualified range, and electrical equipment can work normally.

In case of heavy load, it is necessary to select according to economic current density on the basis of qualified safe current carrying capacity and voltage drop, and also consider power loss, which requires that power loss and capital investment should be within a reasonable range. In order to ensure the long-time continuous operation of the conductor, it should be determined according to the limit temperature, cooling conditions, laying conditions and other comprehensive factors.

In general, the copper braided wire has better conductivity and upper limit of safe current carrying capacity under the conditions of short distance, small cross-sectional area, good heat dissipation and low temperature; However, due to long distance, large cross-sectional area, poor heat dissipation, high temperature and poor natural environment, the conductivity of copper braided wire is weaker, and the lower limit of safe current carrying capacity is selected.
